What is a Sunday bag?
Traditionally, a Sunday bag is a slim carry bag for a short set of clubs — the kind you take for a casual loop, not a tournament bag stuffed with options.
The First 9 Sunday Bag (starter version)
For intimidated beginners we define it as three clubs:
- Putter
- 58° wedge
- Pitching wedge (PW)
That is enough to play a relaxed par-3 nine, practice distance control, and skip the driver-first trap.
Why it works
- Fewer clubs = fewer decisions on the tee
- Lighter to carry — less fatigue, less intimidation
- Budget stays in a used kit range (~$280–$380 with caps) instead of a full new set
What it is not
It is not a forever limit. Add clubs later when your game asks for them. Start simple so you can actually enjoy the first nine.
