Beginner golf warm-up
You do not need a tour-pro activation routine. You need loose shoulders, calm breathing, and one or two rehearsal swings that feel familiar.
Five minutes is enough
- Walk from the car with purpose — that is already part of the warm-up.
- Arm circles + gentle twists — thirty seconds each side. No yoga performance.
- Two slow rehearsal swings with your pitching wedge — finish balanced, then stop.
- If the course has a short practice green, three putts from close, then leave. Do not chase a perfect stroke.
What you can skip
- Bucket of driver balls right before your tee time (especially if you are not using a driver)
- Filming yourself on the first tee
- Stretching until you feel “ready to play well” — readiness is showing up, not scoring
Permission
A stiff first swing is allowed. Warm-up is courtesy to your body and the group, not a promise that hole one will be pretty.
