Beginner guide
Can beginners play golf alone?
Yes. Plenty of courses let singles walk on or book a solo tee time. Playing alone is often the lowest-pressure way to learn.
Why solo helps intimidated beginners
- No performance audience
- You set the pace (within course rules)
- You can take an extra drop or practice putt when the hole is empty — still respect groups behind you
How to book
- Online tee sheets: look for 1 player / single.
- Call the shop: “Beginner, walking a par-3 nine — any quiet times for a single?”
- Expect to be paired sometimes on busy days. That is normal — etiquette guide helps.
Safety + courtesy
Stay aware of groups behind and ahead. Let faster players through. Bring water. Tell someone where you are if you walk a remote track.
Solo on a short course with three clubs is one of the kindest first loops you can give yourself.
