Beginner guide
What is a par-3 course?
A par-3 course is made of shorter holes. Each hole is designed as a par 3 — usually one solid shot toward the green, then short game and putts.
Why intimidated beginners start here
- Less walking pressure than a full 18.
- No forced driver decisions.
- Room to learn pace, etiquette, and belonging.
You can play a par-3 nine with three clubs. That is the point of The First 9: a clear first stage, not a fantasy tour debut.
How to find one
Search “par 3 near me,” “executive course,” or “pitch and putt.” Call and ask if walk-ons are welcome for beginners. Morning and twilight are often quieter.
